El Paso County has compelted updates to forest management plans for Black Forest Regional Park and Pineries Open Space. Forestree Development was selected to complete a vegetation burn severity analysis, update forestry and noxious weed management plans for Black Forest Regional Park (385 acres) and the Pineries Open Space (1,067 acres). The County’s overall objectives are to address post-fire recovery of the forest, mitigate future fire risk, outline long-term protection of wildlife and habitat, and prepare the forest for development of recreation facilities and trails as proposed in park master plans and the El Paso County Parks Capital Improvement Program.
