Accepted Materials
  • Basic Recyclables
    Aluminum, Cardboard, Glass Containers, Metal Cans, Paper, and Plastics #1-7.
    Clean containers only - No Food Residue. All cardboard, paperboard etc. must be flattened. No sorting.
  • Paint, Stains, Solvents, Etc.
    Latex, Oil-Based, Aerosol, and Hobby Paints; Lacquers, Solvents, Stains, Strippers, Thinners, Varnishes, etc.

    Lawn & Houseplant Fertilizers, Herbicides, Insecticides, Pesticides, Rodent Poisons, Wood Preservatives, etc.

  • Household
    Aerosols, Ammonia, Ammunition (& Gunpowder), Bleach, Cleaners (carpet, drain, oven, toilet), Cooking & Lamp Oils, Degreasers, Deodorizers, Fire Extinguishers, Fireworks, Floor Cleaners/Waxes, Fluorescent Lights & Ballasts, Furniture Polish/Wax, Laundry Products, Mercury, Mothballs, Photographic Chemicals, Propane & Butane Tanks (1-lb & 20-lb), Rust Removers, Silver Cleaners, Smoke Alarms, Spot Removers, etc.

  • Porcelain
    Sinks, Toilets, Ceramic Tiles, Granite & Marble countertops. Items must be unloaded without staff assistance. The County is partnering with Colorado Springs Utilities to recycle crushed porcelain for use in local roads.
  • Batteries
    Household Batteries: AA, AAA, C, D, 9 Volt, Hearing Aid, Rechargable, Car Batteries, etc.

  • Automotive
    Antifreeze, Batteries, Brake & Transmission Fluids, Cleaners (bug, tar, chrome, engine, vinyl), contaminated Motor Oil, self-service uncontaminated Motor Oil (in 5-gallon containers or smaller only), Flares, Fuels, Wax, etc.
    No Tires.

  • Data Media
    Audio and Video Tapes, CDs, DVDs, BluRay Discs, Game Cartridges, etc.
  • Electronics
    Audio/Video Equipment, Camcorders, Cell Phones, Computers, Digital Cameras, Fax Machines, Ink Cartridges, Microwave Ovens, Printers, Scanners, Toner Cartridges, TVs (19” or smaller), etc.

    Pills, Liquid Medicines, Ointments, Patches, Inhalers, etc.: 
    All prescription and over-the-counter medications accepted.

    Medical Sharps:  Put in a certified medical sharps container from a pharmacy or a clean plastic liquid laundry detergent bottle with a narrow neck and a screw lid.

    7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Second Saturday of the Month, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.     

  • Business Waste accepted 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Thursdays ONLY

  • Available to El Paso and Teller county residents only.

  • Hazardous Waste must be in labeled, non-leaking containers that can be left at the site.

  • This is a free service for households.  A donation of non-perishable food items for the Care & Share food bank is encouraged.

  • Tires are not accepted.

Drop & Swap Program
  • New / Usable Paint and Household Chemicals are available free to the public at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

Small Business Waste Program
  • Pre-registration is required for this fee-based program. Qualifying Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG) businesses can drop off their hazardous waste on Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
