Welcome to the Environmental Division

The Environmental Division of the El Paso County Community Services Department encompasses Environmental Compliance, Forestry and Noxious Weeds, Household Hazardous Waste, and Natural Resources.  El Paso County embraces our responsibility for environmental stewardship by our commitment to initiating innovative, desirable, and sustainable practices in all environmental disciplines.

Environmental Compliance ensures that County-owned and operated facilities are compliant with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

Forestry and Noxious Weeds develops and implements policies, procedures, and standards for efficient mapping, monitoring, enforcement, education, and control of tree diseases, forest pests, and noxious weeds.

Household Hazardous Waste addresses environmental and Recycling Programs within El Paso County by promoting the philosophy of "reduce, reuse, and recycle," and by accepting an extensive variety of household hazardous waste streams for recycling and/or proper disposal.

Natural Resources ensures compliance with laws pertaining to threatened and endangered species and wetlands, monitors conservation easements, and reviews subdivision development plans for environmental impacts.
