CDBG News

August- 2008

Since 1974, federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) have provided a flexible source of annual funding to communities nationwide. The CDBG program offers local governments, in conjunction with citizen participation, the opportunity to address a wide range of unique community development needs, provided these projects principally benefit low- and moderate-income residents.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has recently notified El Paso County that it is now eligible to receive CDBG Funds beginning in 2009. These funds have the potential to be of great benefit to our residents.

The County will have the ability to carry out all of its CDBG-related activities or award some or all of the funds to nonprofit organizations.

Please check back frequently for information regarding the availability of funds, application process, Consolidated Plan development, public meetings, and more.
