- Jackson Creek Trail Expansion
- The first phase of the Jackson Creek Trail will be completed in 2007 and connect the New Santa Fe Trail to Baptist Road. In 2008, staff proposes a new segment of the Jackson Creek Trail that will extend to the City's Skyline Trail at Northgate Road. The new section of trail will be constructed on Air Force Academy (AFA) property east of I-25. We are in the process of obtaining an easement from the AFA to install the trail. We have budgeted $45,000 to complete the connection.

- Off-Highway Vehicle Park
- The County Park's master plan includes the development of additional Off-Highway Vehicle opportunities in El Paso County. During 2007, the County reviewed a variety of potential sites and determined that a public - private partnership with the Aztec Family Raceway, which is located in the Highway 94 corridor, would be the most economically feasible option. The proposal includes the County securing approximately 800 acres of property through purchase and / or lease and Aztec providing the parking, restrooms, and concession facilities. Colorado State Parks has provided $20,000 that will be matched with County funds to complete the master planning process at the site during the spring, 2008.
