Palmer Lake Regional Recreation Area
- Nestled at the foot of picturesque Ben Lomand Mountain, the Palmer Lake Recreation Area is located at the north end of the New Santa Fe Regional Trail. Fishing and birding are popular along the willow-lined lake which, during the Denver and Rio Grande narrow-gauge railroad era, provided a natural reservoir for "taking on water" by steam engines. The lake and long stretch of regional trail provide visitors with many open vistas of Mt. Herman and the Rampart Range.
Location: From Interstate 25, exit 161, then northwest on Highway 105 for approximately 5 miles; east at County Line Road to the park entrance. View a PDF map of Palmer Lake Regional Recreation Area
